Herb Giebel is currently working in Lifestyle Medicine & Wellness Care in the Department of Medicine Unit IV of the Christian Medical College in Vellore, India. He is involved with clinical service, research and training.  He has a special interest in whole-person care and using a lifestyle-focused approach not only in prevention, but also for disease treatment and reversal in the acute care setting.  He believes the greatest success in reversing the epidemic of lifestyle diseases will come when the individual, community and government all take responsibility for health-promoting change.
Before coming to India he worked in Nigeria with his family for 16 years where he helped develop a residency in Family Medicine and was a part of developing a lifestyle program which had an integrated arm in the acute care setting of the hospital.
Dr. Giebel earned his M.D. degree from Loma Linda University School of Medicine (1988), his M.S. (epidemiology) from Wake Forest University in North Carolina (1995), his M.P.H. (health policy & administration) from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill (1997), and a diploma in Tropical Medicine & Hygiene from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (2000). He is boarded in both Family Medicine and Preventive Medicine
